Important Play (Workouts)

I offer different kinds of workouts to address my clients needs.  All class memberships and packages cover attendance to any of the classes with the exception of the Lab which requires an advance okay to participate.  All workouts are designed to challenge, strengthen, protect your joints and, most importantly, be be such a  joyous experience you'll want to return to again and again!

You Will Love Your Body!!! The reformer/tower combination is the best piece of Pilates equipment I have ever been on!  (And I have worked on all sorts of Stott, Peak Pilates, Teague and other Balanced Body machines.)  I love working on it with clients to strengthen, lengthen, define and change their bodies and also to change how they look and communicate with their bodies.   You will work you body as never before!  You will be in touch with it in a whole new way!  You will feel better than you ever have in your life!

The Triathlon of workouts!!! 

Incorporating all three elements of a balanced fitness diet:  cardio, strength and flexibility, the SpinFusion workout consists of a 30-45 minute routine of coached cardio on the BH Fitness SB2 bikes, elliptical or treadmill.  

See how quickly and intensely you can get your heart rate up!!!  See how many calories you can burn!!! 

During this portion of the class, you will get pushed beyond your comfort zone, using bursts, sprints, and surges to spark a metabolic burst that can last up to 48 hours beyond the workout!!  

The last part of the class is spent on the Reformer/Towers which is the best piece of equipment devised to condition you with the remaining two elements of fitness, flexibility and strength training.

Men's Reformer

And if you think Pilates is easy, be warned, you will find this the toughest workout you have ever done, and you will love it!!!!

As a man, you need a different workout than women, and this class is designed with that in mind.  This hour workout using the Reformer, Tower and Mat emphasizes flexibility, structural conditioning and core strength.  Whatever else you enjoy doing, whether it be golf, skiing, lifting weights, biking, this hour will make you do it better, and enjoy it more!!

Men are different. (duh!)  Seriously, a man's skeletal structure differs from a woman's in fundamental ways which tends to make men less flexible than women especially in the important areas of the hips.  Men have a completely different center of gravity.  Added to that is the fact that many of the fitness activities that men enjoy (weights, cardio, golf, etc.) do not emphasize flexibility.  The final challenge is often  a few extra pounds gained from sitting at a desk or computer for hours a day.  Add the three together, and you have a perfect recipe for the aches and pains that we mistakenly attribute to the normal aging process. 

Flow aka the Lab:

Because you are an experienced and dedicated Pilates instructor or practitioner, I would like to cordially invite you to the  "the Lab" - a weekly master's class using the Reformer/Tower.  

Pilates, where no man (even Joe!), has gone before!!

It is here that we push the limits both of ourselves and the equipment so that we all can be better instructors.  Besides, how often do you get to just have FUN with others at your level of expertise?  Come to this class prepared to learn, prepared to lead and prepared to experiment.  This is the where we develop the next generation of work on the Reformer -- West Coast Progressive Pilates™.

"Why do you do this?" I have been asked, "Aren't you just giving away your secrets to the competition?"

My answer is that we and our clients are all better served if we become better instructors, and who better to learn from than ourselves!  My father was a doctor, and even though there was a certain level of competition among them, he taught me the value of working and learning with colleagues to improve.

All participants in the Lab must be able to show proof of certification, insurance or must be cleared into the class by me

Sunday Brunch & Happy Hour

Head into the weekend energized and refreshed and end it with the best thing to happen to Sunday since the Mimosa!!  An hour of deep musclework that leaves you with an endorphin buzz that will last the rest of the day!!  

These two classes held on Friday afternoons and Sunday mornings are a more freeform and relaxed version of Group Reformer (which doesn't mean we won't do strong stuff, we'll just laugh more while we're doing it!!

Held at 10:00 every Sunday morning.  There is nothing better to start your day, or cure the residue of hard Saturday night.

The music is Jazz, and the vibe is mellow, but incredibly energizing!!!  Come experience the best Sunday class in the Conejo!!!
