Oak Park & Agoura Farmers' Markets

Oak Park Farmers' Market - Saturdays from 9 - 1:00 at Oak Park High School.

The best bread of all the markets around.  The lady who works there always saves a loaf of Dakota bread for us (an amazing sandwich whole wheat and seed bread that can hold up to sandwiches and toasting well into the week.  It has grown from the early, hopeful days, and even more from the cold, gray days when less than a dozen stands would be open to sparse crowds.

But the old location's live music has transferred over to the new location, and there are two long rows of sellers now.

Agoura Farmers' Market - Sunday from 9 - 1:00 at the Agoura Deli Mall.

The best all-round market near to us on Sundays.  Tutti-Frutti farms is as organic as you can get, and the deep colored beets are still here, but joined now by equally amazingly sweet heirloom tomatoes.  The Asian ladies with their jujube-ginger tea were a life saver in the cold winter days.  Their fruit is wonderful.  The organic strawberries from another vendor are also a weekly necessity.  Ishmael, the shaman-like wise nut seller always has a delectable taste.  The herbed feta from Moms work with the heirloom tomatoes and we round out our trip with a flat of eggs and chicken from the egg-guy.   And is all this more than buying it in Vons?  Perhaps, but a lot less than Whole Foods.
